Favorite Post: “The Talk” from Momastery. I know I’m late to the party, but this is just the perfect thing to read and share as we finish the first week of school….”whenever you feel compassion, be thrilled! It means that God is speaking to you, and that is magic…” Read on here.

Pet Peeve of the Week: how fast my cilantro always goes bad, and when anyone leaves a block of cheese not tightly wrapped in the fridge. Oh, and fruit flies.

I know it’s my kid, but seriously, how can you look at this picture and not a. get excited for winter and b. smile. Look at that face!

Favorite About Page: Momastery takes it again. When I read Glennon’s bio, I realize how much we all yearn for real, raw honesty and the inspiring realization that God is a God of transformation, of healing and of redemption. That is always good news.

Favorite New Tool: The Storyboard. I found out about it at Brad Lomenick’s blog and I ordered one this weekend. With some big projects coming up at work, I can’t wait to get my 3×5 cards organized! I could see this being an awesome tool for all kinds of projects.

Just Finished Reading:  The Mormonism of America by Stephen Mansfield and Protege by Steve Saccone.

The Mormonism of America: Here’s why I think you should read the Mormonism book: because Mitt Romney is running for president and I think it’s important to understand the background of the religion. Mansfield provides a great overview of the faith, an understanding of the way a Mormon’s worldview is shaped, and how that impacts their life and our American culture. I think it’s a pretty fair assessment of the faith, although I believe every author has a biased view in the way they write. BUT it’s well-written, easy to read, and actually pretty fascinating. Check it out.

Protege: If you work with twentysomethings in any capacity (work, small group, discipleship, babysitters, etc.) this book is a great resource. Not only did it inform my own thoughts about how I lead, but it also provides excellent practical resources for the work of shaping young leaders. I LOVED it and plan to use it heavily in my work.

Book I’m Most Excited About: This one is hard to pick, but at the moment, it’s Justin and Trish Davis Beyond Ordinary. It hasn’t released yet…but Justina and Trish are brave enough, bold enough and humble enough to write a book about their almost-failed marriage and the road back to strength and health. It’s going to be so good! Check them out here.

Best Day of the Week: Ah, Saturday. Reading, coffee, PJs, family. Love it. I hope you have a weekend with a little rest, a little frivolity, and a lot of love.
