We really did, if by “movie” you know I mean that it’s me with some of my friends talking about our issues. I don’t mean just kind of skirting around them and not being real. I mean REALLY talking about our issues.

Last October I stood in the crowded concourse during a break at the Catalyst conference and pitched this idea to my editors. And by “pitched” I mean I gestured wildly with my hands and told them that making a DVD study to go with She’s Got Issues would be AMAZING and WONDERFUL and LIFE-CHANGING and the BEST decision they would make because WOMEN EVERYWHERE wish that they could get together with their friends and REALLY TALK about their issues, and figure out together just where GOD was in the midst of it and DID I MENTION LIFE-CHANGING. And then I managed to convince my editors that maybe I could be the woman to help make that happen.

And the crazy thing is, they believed me.

So we did it. We made a movie. Or a DVD. Or a “curriculum” although we prefer to call it a “group experience.” Whatever you call it, it’s a way to walk through the She’s Got Issues material with a group, for a six or eight week block of time. Here’s a few things about it that are different than other bible studies you may have seen:

1. I’m not Beth Moore, although I do my best to speak passionately about Jesus because I really, really love him. And I love Beth Moore and wish I could be her summer siesta bible study pick. Fine, I said it. I feel better.

2. There is time within the study to journal. That’s right, I’m exposing the dirty little secret of small groups: no one does their homework. Easy. I gave you time to actually DO SOME THINKING while you are in your group.

3. There are real interviews with women of all stages of life talking about their issues. I mean, my friends (who by the way, didn’t sign up for this whole Christian faux-celebrity thing)–anyway, these friends literally open their hearts up and pour out their souls for your benefit. They give you permission to speak about your own stuff because they tell you about their stuff and they do it FIRST! If nothing else, you should buy the DVD so you can see these interviews. They are incredible.

4. I give you some teaching, but not too much. For about 15 minutes, I give you some solid biblical thoughts to accompany the “issue of the week.” I hope it’s a chance to reinforce some of the work you’ve done by reading the book, and perhaps to hear a new insight that will click for your heart.

So that’s it. Why wait? You should just pull together your best lady-friends, butter some popcorn and make some plans to deal with your issues together this fall. The trailer, or as I like to call it, “commercial”, is below. Spread it around. :)

Oh, one more thing. You might not want to buy the DVD just yet. When it releases in late August, I’ll have some AWESOME deals over on my store page with books & the DVD bundled together. Get ready for an HONESTY REVOLUTION in your life. It’s coming….
